This is the story of how TAG came to be... Many people have asked us “Where did we get the name TAG?” It is a story of sadness, devotion and love.
On April 14, 2015 Avery, a six year old female German Shepherd owned by initial investors died suddenly in her sleep.
The Delcordes were distraught. Additionally, Avery’s brother and littermate was left behind and was also mourning.
Fred and Gina Stein of Felsenberg Kennels in Montreal helped the Delcordes find a puppy, not to replace Avery, but to try to at least help fill the void that her death had left behind.
But nine week old Meike would need socialization, puppy school, and obedience training.
The Delcordes began looking for a training school. Meike began her training at Forever Friends Dog Training school. When Forever Friends moved, the Delcordes invested in the new dog school occupying the space at Grenfell Crescent.
Meike was born on May 21, 2015 and arrived at the Delcordes’ home on July 11, 2015.
After a quick bum sniff and a big lick across the face, Jethro quickly accepted the new puppy as his new little sister. They have been fast friends and inseparable every since.
The name had to be short, simple and easy to remember. Many other dog training schools have names that include ‘‘doggy’ words like canine, friend, or bark. This dog training school would be different.
Initial thoughts were to use the name of the childhood dog of one of our founders. Tag was a Chihuahua/Jack Russell cross that resembled the dog on the label of RCA Victor records.
And that is then when the school came to be known as This is Avery’s Gift - T A G
The logo is representative of Meike as a puppy with Avery watching over her, as she will always be in our hearts and memories.
